Ferrari 599 GTO: how many were built, and what one is worth

The 599 GTO is the road-legal version of the track-only 599XX, and the third car Ferrari has permitted to wear the GTO name after the 250 GTO and the 288 GTO. That lineage is most of the reason it is collected rather than simply driven.

Call it $1 million to $1.5 million for a typical car, with well-documented examples going considerably above.

The public record is unusually scattered. A car made $952,000 on Bring a Trailer in March 2026. Another made $2,200,000 at Mecum Indianapolis in May 2026. Hagerty's October 2026 guide puts a good 2010 example near $1.67 million. Median asking prices across European dealer listings sit around €1.58 million. A Ming Collection car made $2.04 million at RM Sotheby's Monterey in August 2025.

A spread that wide is not noise. It reflects condition, mileage, colour, options and provenance on a car where all five vary enormously, and it means a single comparable is close to worthless. If somebody quotes you one number for a 599 GTO, the useful reply is to ask which car.

Why it is worth knowing about

It is the most accessible car on this list by an order of magnitude, and the only one here a buyer might reasonably use. Front-engined naturally aspirated V12 Ferraris with a limited run and a competition name have, as a class, moved in one direction.
